CareShortlist exists because choosing aged care in Australia is harder than it should be, at exactly the moment families have the least capacity for hard things.

The information families need is mostly public: every government-funded service, every Star Rating, every room price, every budget level. But it is scattered across datasets, PDFs and portals, and the services that offer to help usually do it over the phone, on their timetable, with their commercial interests out of view.

We take the official data, keep it current, put it in plain English, and turn it into something a family can actually act on: a set of options matched to your family’s circumstances. Online, free, and honest about how we make money; that part is in writing.

CareShortlist is Australian owned, Australian run, and independent. We are not owned by any aged care provider, we hold no stake in any provider we list, and we exist for one reason: to help Australian families find the right care, in Australia, with the facts in front of them.

Requests are handled by our care team. June, the care guide who emails you, is the AI assistant our team built and oversees: she matches every request against the official government data and is available at any hour, and a real person on our team reads everything you send back. She is built to be warm and genuinely useful, and to be honest about what she is.
